PROJECT QUALIFICATION
Which projects are a good fit for nationwide field service?
Each assignment is evaluated individually. Considerations include project size, complexity, specialized capture requirements and repeat-work potential.
Factors we evaluate
We review the information needed to plan field work, documentation and travel together.
- Location, property type and approximate square footage
- Number of buildings, levels and locations
- Complexity, accessibility and expected field time
- Capture technology and documentation requirements
- Drawing types, models and digital file formats
- Schedule, travel logistics and repeat-work potential
Projects that may be strong candidates
Larger, complex and recurring assignments often provide a stronger basis for project-specific travel.
- Commercial buildings and larger retail properties
- Industrial facilities and warehouses
- Hotels, hospitality and multifamily properties
- Complex existing buildings and scan-intensive assignments
- Multi-building sites and multi-location programs
- Portfolio documentation and repeat assignments
Smaller projects are accepted, including residential work, based on location, schedule and deliverables.
NATIONWIDE CAPABILITIES
Field capture and documentation matched to the project
Accessible interior, exterior and visible site conditions can be documented using Leica BLK360 LiDAR, Matterport capture, conventional field measurements or a practical combination. The method follows the building, intended use and agreed deliverables.
Leica BLK360 LiDAR Scanning
Dimensional capture for complex conditions
Leica scanning produces point-cloud data for larger spaces, irregular geometry, façades and other detail-intensive conditions. It is used when scan-based dimensional capture adds value to the drawing process.
Matterport 3D documentation
Immersive visual reference for project teams
Matterport creates a navigable visual record of accessible interiors that can support remote review, coordination and reference during drafting. It is selected primarily for visual context and collaboration rather than as a substitute for Leica LiDAR dimensional capture.
Field measurement and source drawings
Efficient documentation for straightforward scopes
For smaller or more straightforward properties, conventional field measurement and reliable existing drawings may be the most efficient approach. These methods can also be combined with scanning when different parts of the project require different levels of documentation.
Every project begins by defining what needs to be documented and how the finished information will be used.
THE PROCESS
From project review to nationwide field documentation
We define the capture approach, documentation scope and travel requirements before committing to field work.
01
Review the project specifications
Share the location, property type, approximate size, number of sites, available plans, intended use and target schedule.
02
Define scope and travel requirements
Confirm capture methods, accessible areas, expected field time, deliverables, travel assumptions and site logistics before work begins.
03
Complete field documentation
Travel to the property and document the conditions using Leica scanning, Matterport, conventional measurement or a combination.
04
Prepare and deliver project files
Process the captured information, prepare and review the documentation, and deliver agreed drawings, models, point clouds or visual records.
WHY AU DESIGN US
One coordinated workflow from field capture to finished documentation
From initial field capture through final CAD, Revit or visual documentation, AU Design US keeps the work connected as one coordinated process. Capture methods and deliverables are selected according to the building, project requirements and intended use of the documentation.
Project-specific documentation
Select the floor plans, elevations, reflected ceiling plans, building sections, site information and digital files the project actually requires.
Usable drawings and digital files
Receive clearly organized drawings, models and documentation in the formats established for the project.
Capture methods matched to the property
Combine reliable source drawings, conventional field measurement, Leica LiDAR scanning or Matterport capture as appropriate to the accessible conditions and agreed scope.
Residential and commercial experience
Support additions, renovations, tenant finish-outs, Change of Use planning, facility updates and other projects that depend on current building information.
MULTI-LOCATION PROJECTS
Consistent documentation across multiple properties
Plan repeat drawing standards, capture methods and deliverables for retail, hospitality, multifamily or other property portfolios.
Share the number of buildings and locations, geographic spread and target schedule. We’ll review access, travel and documentation needs for each assignment.
NATIONWIDE PROJECT QUESTIONS
Planning an out-of-state As-Built project
Questions about project suitability, capture methods, deliverables, travel and scheduling.
Does AU Design US travel nationwide for As-Built projects?
Yes. AU Design US is based in Dallas–Fort Worth and considers field documentation projects throughout the United States. Each assignment is reviewed for scope, location, capture needs, deliverables, schedule and travel requirements before availability is confirmed.
What projects are a good fit, and is there a minimum size?
Larger commercial, industrial, warehouse, hospitality, multifamily and retail properties may be strong candidates, along with complex buildings, multi-building sites and repeat assignments. There is no published square-foot minimum. Smaller projects may be possible when location, schedule, scope and travel requirements make them practical.
Can you document multiple buildings or locations?
Yes, subject to project review and scheduling. For multi-location or portfolio assignments, we can establish common drawing standards, capture methods and deliverables. Share the number of properties, their locations and the planned sequence so travel and access can be evaluated.
Are Leica BLK360 and Matterport available for nationwide projects?
Both can be considered for qualified projects. Leica BLK360 LiDAR captures dimensional point-cloud information for complex geometry and scan-to-CAD or scan-to-Revit work. Matterport creates a navigable visual reference for remote review. Conventional measurements may be used separately or alongside either method.
What information do you need to review a nationwide project?
Send the property city and state, approximate square footage, number of buildings or locations, property type, accessible areas, desired deliverables and target schedule. Existing plans, photographs and site-access information help us assess the scope and whether travel is appropriate.
Can exterior and visible site conditions be included?
Accessible exterior features and visible site information such as parking, curbs and walkways can be included in the agreed scope. This is not a boundary survey. Legal boundaries, underground utilities and concealed conditions are not field-verified. Licensed design, engineering and permit approval are separate from this documentation service.
Can I receive AutoCAD drawings, Revit models or point clouds?
Deliverables may include PDF and editable DWG drawings, point-cloud data, Revit models and Matterport visual documentation. Drawing sets may include floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, sections, roof plans or visible site information. Formats, versions and level of detail are agreed before travel; every project does not require every output.
How are travel costs and scheduling handled?
Travel requirements, expected field time and site logistics are reviewed with the documentation scope before a project-specific quote is prepared. Ask early with your preferred field dates and delivery deadline so availability can be evaluated. Travel terms, scheduling and repeat-work arrangements are confirmed for the assignment.
